I Spent 10 Years Negotiating Against Landowners.
Now I Only Represent Them.

Before opening the Daughtrey Law Firm, I worked  for major oil companies. I negotiated leases, managed title work, and led acquisition teams across Texas.

I know how operators structure deals to maximize THEIR profits. I know which clauses they hope you will not question. I know what they will negotiate and what they will not.

That insider knowledge now works exclusively for property owners just like you.

Why I Practice Law Differently : About Nixon

In 2011, my life changed forever. In August, I lost my mother to cancer. Just a few months later, in December, my grandmother passed away from cancer and a broken heart. These back-to-back losses deeply impacted how I view life and law.

Probating their estates while grieving was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Every court appearance brought fresh pain. Every document with their names prolonged the process. Managing legal matters while processing personal loss showed me how difficult these moments truly are for families.

After working through my grief, I returned to the oil business. Something had shifted inside me. Negotiating against landowners no longer felt right. I had spent years learning how companies structure deals to benefit themselves. Using that knowledge against property owners made no sense when I could use it to protect them instead.

Opening this firm allowed me to practice law the way I believe it should be practiced. Building lasting relationships with clients matters more than maximizing billable hours. Helping families navigate difficult transitions matters more than treating every matter as just another transaction.

I understand that legal matters often arrive during life’s hardest moments. Inheritance. Family disputes. Companies pressuring you to sign documents you do not understand. My goal is ensuring clients feel comfortable seeking help without fear of judgment or constant billing surprises.

The insider knowledge I gained from oil companies now protects the people those companies used to hire me to negotiate against. That feels right.
